Urth Yarns Kilim Shawl Pattern - Digital Download

Named for the expressive traditional flat woven kilims of Anatolia which often use colourful yarn remnants in playful combinations. Long herringbone self-striping side panels are worked flat and edged with Latvian braid trim and a linen stitch band, then picked up and knit together while working the centre panel.

The entire rectangular shawl is then banded in the round, and trimmed working flat. Panels are easily adaptable to make a longer or wider shawl by adding more rows or stitches to the panels, or additional panels. The shawl shown here was made with three partial Uneek Fingering colourways plus one entire Monokrom colourway, but endless combinations are possible as long as there is enough yarn.
